This stunning Oregon Sunstone piece is inspired by the opulent statement jewelry of ancient Rome. The jewelry of their Greek predecessors was characterised by immensely skilled metalwork, but Roman metalsmiths included a vast variety of colored gemstones and glass from the far reaches of the empire. While Roman metalworkers didn't have access to Sunstones from the deserts of Oregon, they doubtless would have revered these unique gemstones with their sparkling fire.
Twin columns of hand textured Argentium silver curve and support a radiant 15 x 10mm teardrop Oregon Sunstone. A hand textured and mirror polished structure curves down into the base of the columns where a brilliant 8mm Oregon Sunstone is encased in a four prong setting. A 22" hand-fabricated chain was created specifically for this piece, elongated infinity symbols blending into subtly textured circles. The chain detaches from the centerpiece and can be worn on its own as a versatile, functional accent necklace. "Sol Invictus" or "Unconquered Sun" is a piece of keepsake art jewelry that will be cherished for generations to come.
